1983 Wolfsburg Edition
The 1983 Wolfsburg Edition was the same as the base model for 1983, except for, or in addition to:
Exterior:
  • Body color-matched wheel flares and mirror housings.
  • “Wolfsburg Edition” emblems on front fenders
Interior:
  • Cloth sport seats, white with black pinstripe inserts and leatherette bolsters.
  • A leather 4-spoke steering wheel, leather shift knob and boot.
Additional Optional Features:
  • Air-Conditioning
  • 3-Speed Automatic Transmission
"Triple White" - The Alpine White (L90E) model came with a "triple white" package, with white cloth interior, and matching white top.

1983 Wolfsburg Limited Edition Standard Features

Well-instrumented Wolfsburg Limited Edition Convertible features a stereo cassette radio and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Highlighting the striking white-and-black motif, are white light alloy wheels, with road-gripping 70-series steel belted radial tires.

Smartly styled interior of the Wolfsburg Limited Edition Rabbit Convertible features cloth inserts for the seats and doors.
An easy folding convertible top in matching white, hand crafted at the famous Karmann Coachworks, seals out the elements.

Quote from the 1983 Brochure: It’s a German engineer’s idea of heaven.

The unique attractions of the Wolfsburg Limited Edition Rabbit Convertible include a white, easy folding three-layer padded top which accentuates the coordinated white-on-black interior. Driver and passenger can settle in the superb sports seats that are designed to put you on cloud nine.

Capping the styling additions for this special model are white alloy wheels to enhance the dramatic white and black appearance. They’re fitted with 70-series steel belted radials.

Special touches include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and exclusive fabric for the seating areas framed with white leatherette. Some other comforts are optional, including an automatic transmission, variable-ratio power-assisted steering and air conditioning.

Most important is what’s standard in any Rabbit Convertible; The hand-crafted convertible top with its electrically-heated glass rear window rests on an integral roll bar. This feature, along with reinforcements in the unit body, helps give the Rabbit Convertible a quiet, relaxing ride and permits a top that’s smooth fitting and well-sealed.

Among the features are Volkswagen’s fuel-injected overhead cam engine noted for its excellent performance. It’s matched to a 5-speed transmission with overdrive ratios for highway cruising. And on the back roads there’s a fully independent road hugging suspension to appreciate. These marvelous contributions to driving enjoyment combine with rack and pinion steering for easy handling.

Then there is an AM/FM stereo radio with an auto-reverse cassette player which plays through a 4-speaker system.

You’ll find most of these standards in any Rabbit Convertible. But only the Wolfsburg Limited Edition is available in summer whites that will stay in style for all year long. It’s heavenly.
